Entergy Texas Names New Director for Transmission and Distribution Operations

Beaumont, Texas – Longtime Entergy employee Shawn Corkran, 42, has taken over the reins of Entergy Texas, Inc.’s top operations job.

As director of transmission and distribution operations, Corkran will lead employees who work in the area that includes three segments of Entergy Texas’ business: High-voltage transmission lines, substations and the power lines that deliver electricity to homes and businesses throughout Southeast Texas. The transmission and distribution organization is also the most visible group during storm restoration and includes frontline employees directly responsible for performing power line work.

In announcing Corkran’s promotion to the director’s position, Joe Domino, president and chief executive officer, Entergy Texas, Inc., cited Corkran’s background in both transmission and distribution as an important factor in his decision.

“Shawn brings a wealth of experience to his new job. He is known and respected in the Entergy Texas organization,” he said.

Corkran comes to the task with a strong focus on safety and reliability.

“I want to demonstrate a continued high level of responsiveness for the customers we serve,” Corkran said “We provide a valuable service; one that is essential. So it is important to me to ensure that we provide a safe, reliable source of power at a good value for our customers.”

Corkran began with Entergy in 1992 as a transmission and distribution engineer in Lake Charles, La. Over the years, he held a number of field, operational, engineering and managerial positions. In 2004, he moved into a newly-created position in Texas, taking over as east region manager where he was responsible for the activities of Entergy Texas networks in areas Entergy Texas serves east of the Trinity River.

He became Entergy’s Texas transmission grid manager in 2007 where he was responsible for maintaining and operating the company’s transmission system and substations. Corkran also served in key restoration roles for hurricanes Rita and Ike.

Corkran holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering that he earned from McNeese State University in Lake Charles. He and his wife, Angie, live in Lumberton with their three children.

Entergy Texas, Inc. provides electricity to more than 400,000 customers in 27 counties. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation.
