Entergy Texas Helps Southeast Texans ‘Beat the Heat,’

Delivery of Fans to Nonprofit Agencies Set

Beaumont, Texas – Summer is in full swing with soaring temperatures expected to batter the south well into September as usual. But Entergy Texas, Inc. is ready to once again partner with Southeast Texas charitable, nonprofit agencies to bring a little relief to those most in need.

The company’s annual “Beat the Heat” fan drive gets under way this week with delivery of box fans to the agencies who will deliver them to qualified residents in the areas they serve.

Altogether, 1200 fans will be delivered this year throughout Entergy Texas’ service area. Fans have already been delivered to Entergy Texas’ westernmost areas, with agencies there set to provide 555 fans to customers in areas around Conroe, New Caney, Navasota, Huntsville, Corrigan, Trinity and The Woodlands.

A total of 645 fans will be delivered beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 8, to agencies in the Golden Triangle area. Agencies, the number of fans they will receive and the times and locations for the distribution are as follows:

  • 8 a.m. - Some Other Place, 590 Center St., Beaumont, TX, 40 fans. Contact: Paula O’Neal, 409-832-7976.

  • 9 a.m. – Beaumont Chapter, Salvation Army, 1490 N. Seventh St. (at freeway – warehouse location), 120 fans. Contact: Barbara LeDay, 409-833-4153.

  • 11 a.m. – Orange Chapter, Salvation Army, 1950 ML King at Strickland Drive, Orange, 110 fans. Contact: Bonnie, 409-883-4232.

  • 1 p.m., Port Arthur Chapter, Salvation Army, 3145 25th St., Port Arthur, 110 fans. Contact: Sue Byers, 409-883-2229.

  • 2 p.m., Community Care Prayer Outreach, 808 B Nederland Ave., Nederland, 60 fans. Contact: Libby Arnold, 409-724-0163.

On July 1, 50 fans were delivered to the Entergy Texas Service Center in Dayton, while another 60 fans were delivered to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Winnie. Also, on July 2, a total of 70 fans were distributed to the Christian Care Center, Silsbee; Hardin County United Appeals, Kountze; Tri-County Community Action, Inc. and Woodville Chapter, Salvation Army, both in Woodville. Another 25 fans were earmarked for the Caring Christian Sharing organization in Sour Lake.
