Southline-Jacinto 138 kV Transmission Line Project

Entergy Texas is planning to construct a new single 138-kilovolt transmission line in Liberty County and San Jacinto County.  The 6.7-mile transmission line will connect the existing Jacinto Substation to the existing Southline Substation. The new line will provide greater reliability to the Southeast Texas region by adding a new transmission source into the growing area.

On December 5, 2025, the Public Utility Commission of Texas approved the Southline-Jacinto 138 kV Transmission Line and selected the route on which Entergy Texas must construct the Project.

The existing Southline Substation is located approximately 2 miles northwest of the intersection of United States Highway 59 and State Highway 105, in Liberty County to the existing Jacinto Substation, located approximately 2 miles north-northeast of the intersection of US 59 and Farm-to-Market Road 2025, in Liberty County.

Entergy Texas operates within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, which is a regional transmission organization that manages the flow of power across its footprint. MISO has identified this project as subject to federal reliability standards. The project will increase operational flexibility, help meet the growing power demands of Southeast Texas, and increase reliability and resiliency during extreme events, such as Winter Storm Uri.
