40% in four years: Meeting the growing energy demand in Southeast Texas

Entergy Texas expects energy demand across our residential, commercial and industrial customer base to increase over the next few years. This growth in energy consumption requires the Entergy Texas power grid to have an additional 1,600 megawatts of generation capacity by 2028, which is approximately 40% of our current generation capacity.

Entergy Texas developed the Southeast Texas Energy Plan, also known as STEP Ahead, to meet the region’s power needs and spur economic growth. The six-step plan also aims to develop more reliable, affordable and sustainable power so Texas can remain a premier destination for families and businesses.

Our multiyear resiliency plan protects the Southeast Texas power grid from severe weather.

Entergy Texas advances STEP Ahead plan to support Southeast Texas power needs
