Entergy Texas is continuing work to strengthen and modernize the power grid in Southeast Texas as the region experiences population and economic growth. Through its long-term Southeast Texas Energy Plan, known as STEP Ahead, the company is advancing projects intended to enhance reliability, improve grid performance and prepare the system for future energy demand, while seeking to keep customer rates as low as possible.

Entergy Texas has secured approval from the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to construct two natural gas power plants, Legend and Lone Star, with a combined capacity of more than 1.2 GW.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved last week the first phase of Entergy Texas' Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan. This first phase is a $137 million undertaking over three years designed to make the Southeast Texas power grid stronger and ready to withstand the worst of severe weather events.

Texas regulators on Jan. 16, 2025, approved the first phase of Entergy’s Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan, including undergrounding power lines, rebuilding transmission and modernizing local distribution systems.
