Forest to War Eagle to Porter 138 kV Transmission Line Project (Montgomery County)

Entergy Texas is committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable supply of power for our customers. Part of that commitment requires working today to plan for our region’s infrastructure needs to ensure we are able to meet future growth. Providing reliable and affordable electricity is critical to the communities we serve, and we are committed to working with our customers to power the future.

Entergy Texas is planning to construct a new single-circuit 138 kilovolt transmission line approximately 8 to 12 miles in length, in Montgomery County across two sections: Forest to War Eagle and War Eagle to Porter. Forest to War Eagle, will be approximately 2.5 to 3 miles in length and War Eagle to Porter will be approximately 6 to 9 miles in length. The final route will be determined by the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

The new transmission line would be routed from the existing Forest substation to Entergy Texas’ proposed War Eagle substation to the existing Porter substation. The proposed War Eagle substation is located approximately 2.5 miles southeast of the intersection of Interstate Highway 45 and Texas State Highway (SH) 242. The existing Forest substation is approximately 0.5 miles east of Interstate Highway 45 and Texas State Highway (SH) 242. The existing Porter substation is located approximately 2 miles southeast of the intersection of SH 242 and Farm-to-Market Road 1314.

Entergy Texas operates within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), a regional transmission organization that manages the flow of power across its footprint. The identified project is currently undergoing MISO’s vetting and approval process. The project will address potential contingent low voltage and thermal overloads as well as benefit load serving capability in Montgomery County driven by commercial and residential growth in the area.
